Skincare Sunday: My Essentials

Main.JPG

I have a confession: I am a hardcore Sephora fanatic. There was one weekend where I went to Sephora four times… I went to Sephora four times in two days. (Note: I originally went in one day for face wipes and walked out with everything except face wipes… So, that accounts for two trips. The other two have no explanation other than I just got sucked in by the cool displays and always seem to find something new every single time I step foot in a Sephora.)

So, for me, skincare and makeup is a big part of my well being. Before you yell at me in the comments, hear me out. I love makeup. I love wearing a bold red lip and trying out new face washes and just experimenting with different makeup. Putting on makeup and treating my skin to a nice face mask are just two of the things that relaxes me.

With that being said, I have tried a good amount of different skincare products ranging from Lush goodies to face washes and moisturizers… And everything in between. So, I decided that I am going to do a Skincare Sunday series on my blog where I will talk about my favorite skincare products every other Sunday. I’ll be sharing Lush and Sephora hauls, new face masks I try, and any other skincare things you want to see (leave a comment below with what you want me to talk about or try).

So, without further ado, here are my current skincare essentials:

So, I’m going to start with face washes because that is where my love of skincare started. When the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser came out, I really didn’t want to like it. I hoped that it would not be something I like because it is $38 and I go through face wash like it’s my job. But, this stuff is amazing. I’m one of those people who can’t have a super foamy or harsh cleanser on the daily, so this was made for me. It’s super gentle but still removes dirt, impurities, AND MAKEUP (and, if you accidently get it in your eyes, it won’t sting. Woohoo!). I can’t say enough good things about this. The other face wash I have is the Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser. This is great for those days when you need a little exfoliation. I usually use this in the shower at least once a week and I am obsessed with the citrusy smell. It smells so refreshing and clean. I would recommend it if you are looking for a nice cleansing and exfoliating product.

But, sometimes I am being super lazy and just don’t really want to wash my face because I am tired and school wore me down and I have absolutely no motivation to do anything. That’s when I turn to the Korres Pomegranate Makeup Removing Wipes. These are wipes that both remove makeup and cleanse the skin pretty well. They also smell really nice and they are just handy things to have in your skincare collection because they really come in handy.

Sometimes I feel like being extra and end up using the Lush Cupcake Face Mask. I try to do a face mask every Sunday because I feel like it relaxes me (but sometimes life gets in the way). This was made for oily skinned people like me because it helps calm, cleanse, and mattify troubled skin. It smells like a chocolatey wonderland and it really helps soothe my skin when it gets a little irritated (which causes some redness). I love this face mask so much. The only thing that stinks is that I have to pick it up in store and the closest store is 45 minutes away (it’s so worth the drive though).

After I clean my face, I love to moisturize my skin with the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. This is a cult drugstore favorite that just about everyone and their mom loves. I bought this because my skin was getting super dry and the B5 Gel I was using wasn’t helping the dryness at all. I actually think it was making it worse. But, then I tried this stuff and it literally saved my parched skin.

The last two products are products that I got in a sample kit and fell in love with (I have bought the big size in one of them and am waiting to finish the sample up to buy the full size of the other). The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Rose was also one of those products that I hoped I didn’t fall in love with because the full size is $24. But, I fell in love with it because it helped the super dry lips that came along with the Accutane treatment I was on. And, I ended up shelling out the money to buy the big size of this because it is worth every pretty penny I spent on it. It smells wonderful, gives a super duper light tint, and keeps the lips moisturized for a while. It is so worth it guys. I would totally recommend grabbing it. The last essential product for me is the Murad Invisible Perfecting Shield. I placed this in the skincare area because it has SPF and can easily be worn alone to give you a nice blurred look. It is really a makeup primer, but it gives the skin a flawless look while keeping it safe from the sun with SPF 30. This is also an antiaging treatment, so it’s basically a super product that is great for just about everyone.

So, what are your go-to skincare products? Do you splurge or save when it comes to skincare?
